Former President Donald Trump hosted a fundraiser for New York Rep. Elise Stefanik on Wednesday night at his Bedminster golf club in New Jersey.
Stefanik, who was elected last month by her GOP peers to replace Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney as the House Republican Conference chairwoman, is a staunch ally of the former president, who supported her bid for the leadership role.

“On my way to Bedminster to visit with my friend President Trump for our biggest #TeamElise fundraiser ever,” Stefanik tweeted on Wednesday along with a photo of her and Trump. “Republicans & the American people have never been more energized and excited to defeat the Far Left & save our country! And we proudly love our American flag.”

Trump reportedly met Stefanik around 4:30 p.m. at his National Golf Club Bedminster, which preceded a roundtable with 20 top donors and reception around 6 p.m. when Trump spoke to a room of around 50 donors.
The Elise Victory Fund raised at least $250,000, according to the New York Post.
Stefanik, 36, is now the third-highest ranking member of the House Republican Caucus. She gained star power in the party with her vocal opposition to the first impeachment inquiry against Trump.
In her bid to oust Cheney, Stefanik was opposed by some members of the party over her voting record, which several conservative organizations scored her lower ratings on key votes compared to Cheney.
The New York congresswoman has become a rising star in the Republican Party in the Trump era, particularly with her vocal opposition to Trump’s two impeachment fights related to Ukraine and the Capitol riot, respectively. Cheney was one of 10 Republicans who voted in favor of impeaching Trump the second time earlier this year. He was acquitted by the Senate in both cases.
