A D.C. man was convicted of first-degree premeditated murder for fatally shooting a teenager who tried to prevent a street robbery in Southwest Washington.
Deangelo Foote, 21, faces a minimum of 30 years in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for April 29, in D.C. Superior Court.
Prosecutors said shortly after noon on July 8, 2009, Foote tried to rob a friend of Kevin Allen in the alley near N and Half streetst SW. Allen, 17, ran to the assistance of his friend and after a brief struggle, the friend wrestled the magazine from Foote’s gun. The friend set the magazine on the ground then ran off, leaving Allen alone with Foote.
Foote retrieved the magazine and shot Allen seven times, prosecutors said
Foote was on probation at the time of the attack and a GPS device on his ankle showed that he was in the alley at the time of the killing, prosecutors said.
