Two dead and six injured in Las Vegas stabbing attack


Police in Las Vegas have taken a man into custody after a stabbing attack that killed two people and injured six more on Thursday, according to authorities.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a report of a stabbing in front of a casino in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard at 11:42 a.m. Police said of the eight victims, two have died, including one on the scene. The rest were taken to area hospitals for treatment. One died at the University Medical Center, while three were in critical condition and the rest in stable condition, per police.

Police were able to take the suspect into custody “very quickly” with the help of security partners, said Capt. Dori Koren.

Police recovered a “large kitchen knife” from the scene, Koren said.

The suspect’s motive remains unknown, police said in a press release. The suspect will be booked into the Clark County Detention Center as the investigation continues.

The identification of the victims, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, police added.

Road closures were set in the area, and people were advised to avoid the area, the department wrote on social media.
