Former Florida Congressman Joe Scarborough, now the host of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, has famously criticized Newt Gingrich on his show for years. But the famous conservative seems willing to give Gingrich a chance in spite of his deep-seeded distrust of the former speaker.
“I find his leadership skills to be deplorable. But I find his ideological inconsistency to be even more troubling.” writes Scarborough in a Politico column, reminding readers that he and his conservative colleagues suffered under Gingrich.

“To Newt, we conservatives were “extremists,” “cannibals,” and “jihadists” who were pushing too hard to cut the size and scope of the federal government.” he writes.
Scarborough reminds readers that in spite of Gingrich’s flaws, however, he did balance the budget and pass welfare reform under Bill Clinton.
