Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood appeared to throw his support behind former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg for president.

“The best thing we could do is just get Mike Bloomberg in there,” the 89-year-old said in a profile published last week.

Eastwood expressed support for “certain things” President Trump has done but isn’t a fan of how divided politics has become.

“The politics has gotten so ornery,” he said as he hunched his shoulders during an interview with the Wall Street Journal‘s Tunku Varadarajan.

Eastwood said he wished Trump would conduct himself “in a more genteel way, without tweeting and calling people names. I would personally like for him to not bring himself to that level.”

Back in 2016, Eastwood said he would support Trump over Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

“I’d have to go for Trump … you know, ’cause [Hillary’s] declared that she’s gonna follow in Obama’s footsteps,” the actor said in an interview in August 2016.

Eastwood made headlines for having a conversation with an empty chair on stage at the Republican National Convention in 2012.

“So I’ve got Mr. Obama sitting here,” he said while looking at the chair before acting out a conversation between himself and the 44th president.

Eastwood is also known for his strident support of the Second Amendment, which seemingly puts him at odds with Bloomberg, who unveiled a sweeping gun control plan just a couple of months ago.

In years past, Trump tweeted support for Eastwood on several occasions.

“‘I have a very strict gun control policy: if there’s a gun around, I want to be in control of it.’ – Clint Eastwood,” he tweeted in 2013.

“I loved watching Clint Eastwood last night–he was terrific!” Trump said following Eastwood’s speech at the 2012 Republican National Convention.
