Earlier today, Morning Consult and Politico released their own early exit polls. They deliberately avoided releasing anything about the ballot test, but the result that really jumps out at me is the feeling that most (53 percent) say they are “angry,” and less than 30 percent, spread pretty evenly by party, describe themselves as either “happy” or “proud” of how it’s gone.

There are a few ways of thinking about this. One is that Hillary Clinton is on the cusp of becoming the first female president. Neither Democrats nor Republicans, nor independent voters seem terribly enthused. Another is that Trump’s enthusiasts believe they are about to make America great again. Do they feel certain a loss is coming, or are there so few of them that more than half of Republicans feel angry and just under half feel “sad” about the whole exercise?
