Kermit the Frog, Fergie attending White House tree lighting

The Christmas tree isn’t the only thing that’s green at this year’s White House lighting. Kermit the Frog, enjoying a renewed celebrity thanks to the new film “The Muppets,” is coming to town as part of the annual ceremony. The Muppet will be joined by the Black Eyes Peas (Fergie‘s the lead singer, for those living under a rock), boy band Big Time Rush, singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding, band OneRepublic, country music star Rodney Atkins and singer Marsha Ambrosius, according to the Associated Press. Carson Daly will emcee. This is the first time the new National Christmas Tree has been decorated. It was planted in March after a blustery February day blew over the last Christmas tree, which had stood at the Ellipse since 1978.
