Man guilty of killing teen who foiled robbery A D.C. man was convicted of first-degree premeditated murder for fatally shooting a teenager who tried to prevent a robbery in Southwest Washington. Deangelo Foote, 21, faces a minimum of 30 years in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for April 29, in D.C. Superior Court.

Prosecutors said on July 8, 2009, Foote tried to rob a friend of Kevin Allen in the alley near N and Half streets SW. Allen, 17, ran to help his friend and after a brief struggle, the friend wrestled the magazine from Foote’s gun. The friend set the magazine on the ground then ran off. Foote retrieved the magazine and shot Allen seven times, prosecutors said.

17 Baltimore officers charged in towing scheme

Seventeen Baltimore police officers and the owners of a car repair shop have been charged in a towing extortion scheme. Federal authorities said two brothers who owned Majestic Auto Repair Shop paid officers to arrange for their company to tow vehicles from accident scenes and make repairs. Prosecutors said the officers received $300 for each vehicle they steered to Majestic and over two years officers received payments ranging from $300 to $14,400.

4 bankers charged in tax case

Four Swiss bankers have been charged with conspiracy for allegedly helping Americans hide $3 billion in assets from the Internal Revenue Service. Marco Parenti Adami, Emanuel Agostoni, Michele Bergantino and Roger Schaerer were indicted in federal court in Alexandria. The bank wasn’t identified in court papers, but the Associated Press reported that the four worked for Credit Suisse.
