Metro launches program to beautify bus stops

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Agency has started an Adopt-A-Bus Stop program. An individual, group or business can commit to pick up litter and debris around a stop and report graffiti, other damage and suspicious packages. Metro will put up a plaque at the stop honoring the volunteers who have adopted the stop. Metro will also supply cleaning supplies, safety vests and equipment to remove the trash.

“This is a wonderful way for individuals and groups to demonstrate their community pride in a way that is pedestrian-friendly,” Metro General Manager John Catoe said.

Anyone interested in participating should call 202-962-1107.
