Anyone who has yet to understand that what the Black Lives Matter movement and the people championing it (Democrats and the national media) want isn’t equality — it’s power — need look no further than Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
The Democrat, who is black, on Wednesday explained why she had ordered a ban on protests taking place on the block of her home, which now has a police presence to keep demonstrators at bay.
“I think that residents of this city, understanding the nature of the threats that we are receiving on a daily basis, on a daily basis, understand I have a right to make sure that my home is secure,” she said, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Apparently, not everyone has that same right. Recall that Patricia and Mark McCloskey of St. Louis are being prosecuted by Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner, a Democrat, after the McCloskeys saw their gated neighborhood busted open by Black Lives Matter protesters, who then screamed through the streets in front of their home.
The McCloskeys, no doubt having gotten the message that no one is safe anymore, brought out their guns to ensure that no one trespassed onto their property.
They might have just said that “residents of this city understand we have a right to make sure that our home is secure.”
Wait, actually, they have said that, and they’re still being prosecuted for doing the same thing Lightfoot is doing.
