Trump campaign offering chance to ‘win a trip to meet first lady Melania’

Melania Trump is set to make a rare appearance on the fundraising trail for her husband’s 2020 presidential campaign.

“Win a trip to meet first lady Melania Trump in Beverly Hills,” new Trump reelection campaign literature reads. A specific date is not listed, but it is believed that mid-March is the target, according to the Associated Press.

“First lady Melania Trump is a sought-after voice from the First Family, who has the overwhelming approval and admiration of the American people,” Trump 2020 spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany said in a statement. “She is an incredible mother, wife, leader, and first lady for our nation.”

She added that the campaign does not respond to questions about specific campaign details.

The first lady has appeared at just a few campaign rallies since her husband became president in 2017, despite her being a popular figure in the Trump administration. Recent polling has suggested that her presence helps President Trump with female voters, and news broke last month that she would be stepping into the political spotlight more as the president vies for reelection.

Melania Trump recently made an appearance at the State Department this week to attend the International Women of Courage Awards.

“I continue to be inspired by the personal stories that accompany each of these extraordinary women,” she said. “Courage is something that is not easily taught and is closely tied with bravery, humility and sacrifice.”

A January Fox News poll showed that more people have a positive view of her, 47%, than negative, 40%. The president’s approval rating hit a personal best last month, and a recent poll shows that Trump is doing especially well with independent voters as of late.
