DIM BULB Who: Transportation Security Administration agents in Detroit

What: Drew Mandy, a disabled 29-year-old who has the mental capacity of a 2-year-old, was on the way to Disney World with his family when Transportation Security Administration agents singled him out for a patdown. They made him throw away a 6-inch plastic hammer because it could be used as a “weapon.”

Why it’s dim: TSA agents missed the second plastic hammer his mother packed. That one was confiscated on the airplane.

Cure: Drew’s dad said he was told that all 800 TSA employees at Detroit’s Metro Airport will be “retrained” as a result of this incident.
