PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) — The Army has identified a soldier from Texas who was found dead in his barracks room at Fort Lee.
The Army said Wednesday in a news release that foul play isn’t suspected in the death of 21-year-old Pvt. David E. Vines of Beaumont, Texas. But investigators with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command haven’t ruled it out.
Vines was found dead Monday morning.
The cause of death hasn’t been determined.
Vines was a petroleum supply specialist with one of the Army’s two active duty mortuary affairs companies — the 54th Quartermaster Company, 530th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 49th Quartermaster Group. The other mortuary affairs company also is based at Fort Lee.
Vines had joined the Army in June 2011.
