Newly released dash camera video shows part of a police chase in which a woman drove an SUV through security checkpoints outside former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, and dodged gunfire from law enforcement officials.
The footage documents what transpired after a Florida Highway Patrol trooper encountered Connecticut opera singer Hannah Roemhild at The Breakers resort Jan. 31, 2020, following a report of an unruly guest who was said to be dancing on top of her Jeep.

CBS12 News, which obtained the video and arrest records, reported that the officer asked Roemhild to get out of the car and smashed the driver’s side window when she refused. She then sped away, and a chase across Palm Beach ensued. The pursuit moved to the outer perimeter of Mar-a-Lago, where Roemhild blew past barriers, leading law enforcement to open fire. The video then captures the trooper saying he lost the vehicle he was chasing.

Roemhild, who was unhurt, was arrested less than two hours after the chase began at a motel near Palm Beach International Airport, more than 5 miles from Trump’s resort. The former president was not home at the time of the chase, but the report said he was expected to arrive later in the day. She was arrested along with her mother, whom she picked up from the airport in the damaged vehicle.

Roemhild, now 32, was found not guilty by reason of insanity last month. Her attorneys contended that she has a mental illness and stopped taking her medication before the chase, according to the Associated Press. Roemhild had been charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing arrest, and resisting an officer without violence. Her mother was not criminally charged.
