Pooch poll: Elizabeth Warren’s dog more popular than she is

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is being outshined in the 2020 race by her dog.

While she has settled into third place with about 7% support among Democrats planning to vote in next year’s primaries and caucuses, pup Bailey is first in a survey of names of potential presidential pets.

Warren’s lab, Bailey, is leading with 10% of the YouGov.com vote, followed by Joe Biden’s eldest German Shepard, Champ, and Beto O’Rourke’s pooch, Artemis, both tied at 8%.

In the poll, only the names of potential first dogs were offered to survey takers. Their owners were not identified in what essentially was a poll of dog names.

“It’s early in the 2020 race, and many dog-name voters remained undecided with 14% marking ‘don’t know’ and 17% not liking any of the dog names selected by candidates,” said YouGov.
