WINDSOR, England (AP) — Lisa Carrington of New Zealand won gold in the inaugural women’s 200-meter K-1 at Dorney Lake on Saturday, denying Hungarian kayaking great Natasa Douchev-Janics a fourth Olympic title.
Carrington, the reigning world champion, came through late to win in a time of 44.638 seconds and become the first female New Zealander to capture a medal in canoe sprint.

Inna Osypenko-Radomska of Ukraine won silver and Douchev-Janics took bronze.
It’s Douchev-Janics’ second medal of the regatta, having finished runner-up in the 500-meter K-2 on Thursday with Katalin Kovacs.
The London Games marks the first time 200-meter races have been staged at an Olympics.
