In his first dance as commander in chief, President-elect Trump will take the dance floor with Melania to the tune of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” according to a source with knowledge of the official inaugural balls.
The Washington Examiner has learned that Trump plans to take the floor as the 45th president at the Liberty Ball just as Nashville-based jazz singer Erin Boehme delivers opening song “Mack the Knife,” which will be live broadcast for tens of millions of Americans to watch on TV.
Three Nashville, Tenn., artists, including Boehme, will sing the famous Sinatra song as Trump takes his first dance with his wife at the first scheduled ball. The other two artists — a man and woman also from Nashville – were not identified by the source.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee is touting all three inaugural balls as the “most affordable in recent history” – done to ensure they are accessible to the public.
Two of the official balls — Liberty and Freedom — will be open to the public, though closed to media not part of the press pool. These balls will cost $50 each, significantly lower than the hundreds of dollars previous ones have cost.
Liberty and Freedom will take place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and be available to all television networks free of cost for the first time in history. Performers and singers at the balls include Sam Moore, Tim Rushlow and his Big Band, Silhouettes, the Rockettes, Pelican212, The Piano Guys, Circus 1903, Cache Olson, Lexi Walker and Erin Boehme.
