Suspect held in two homicides

A 23-year-old man has been jailed in connection with two homicides that occurred less than a month apart in Howard County.

Howard County police charged Charles David Richardson, of 5218 Brook Way, in the deaths of Trae Allen, 19, of Columbia, on Tuesday and Alevtina Zhilina, 40. Allen died May 21, and Zhilina died in April at a 7-Eleven store.

Officials said Richards was charged with first and second degree murder, first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment and handgun violations in Allen’s death.

Richard also was charged with first degree murder, manslaughter, second degree assault, attempted robbery and handgun violations in connection with Zhilina’s death.

Both incidents occurred not far from Running Brook Elementary School in Columbia.
