Political commentator Katie Hopkins has been permanently suspended from Twitter for posts the company deemed “hateful.”
“Keeping Twitter safe is a top priority for us — abuse and hateful conduct have no place on our service, and we will continue to take action when our rules are broken. In this case, the account has been permanently suspended for violations of our Hateful Conduct policy,” Twitter said in a statement after Hopkins was suspended permanently this week without commenting on what specific tweets prompted the decision, according to the BBC.

Hopkins was criticized for several controversial tweets this week, including a tweet in which she appeared to be mocking the Black Lives Matter movement and another in which she asked a black soccer player who is pushing for more government funding for underprivileged children if women should think twice before they have children they can’t afford.
“I am a Straight. White. Christian. Conservative. Married. Mother. of three. And I am PROUD of all these things. Get off your knees to the thuggery #BlackLivesMatter,” she tweeted earlier this month.
Hopkins had also been expressing frustration with Twitter for removing her “verified” status by posting about it to her more than 1 million followers.
Supporters of the conservative pundit took to Twitter with posts saying, “I am Katie Hopkins,” referring to the movie Spartacus.
Hopkins, a supporter of President Trump who has retweeted her several times, was a contestant on the British version of The Apprentice in 2007 and started as a columnist in the Sun in 2013.
“What a time to be alive! Thank God for 45,” Hopkins tweeted in July 2019 in support of the president whose immigration policies she has vocally supported over the last several years.
