The leader of al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen has released an audio recording mocking President Trump and calling him the “White House’s new fool.”
“The White House’s new fool has received a painful blow at your hands in his first outing on your land,” Qassim al-Rimi says in the recording to his followers, released late Saturday.
Though the recording’s authenticity has not immediately been verified, the voice is allegedly similar to that of other al-Rimi recordings.
Al-Rimi also says that the recent U.S. raid against the group killed 25 people, identifying them all. He adds that 11 women and children were killed and claims that numerous U.S. soldiers were killed our wounded.
According to the U.S. military, only one Navy SEAL — Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens — was killed in the raid.
Also killed in the raid was an 8-year-old American girl, the daughter of U.S.-born al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki, who himself was killed in a U.S. strike in Yemen in 2011.
President Trump has hailed the raid — which also killed 14 al Qaeda fighters — as a complete success.
