Police search for suspect in Laurel robbery and stabbing

Howard County police are still searching for a Jessup man wanted in connection with an attempted armed robbery and a stabbing that occurred minutes apart in Laurel, police reported Sunday.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Andrew Elliott Scott, 23, of the 9000 block of Vollmerhausen Road, on multiple counts of attempted armed robbery, attempted robbery, assault, theft, reckless endangerment and use of a handgun during the commission of a felony.

Police said they believe that Scott and four other suspects assaulted an 18-year-old Laurel man and attempted to rob him of his car keys and vehicle on the evening ofMarch 31 in a residential parking lot near Whiskey Bottom Road and Old Lantern Way.

When the victim tried to get into his vehicle and escape, one of the suspects pulled a handgun and ordered the victim to get out.

After complying, the victim was assaulted and suffered a minor stab wound on his leg, police reported.

Several minutes later, police received a call about another assault at Laurel Woods Elementary School on North Laurel Road.

The two victims, a 16-year-old male from Laurel and a 17-year-old male from Scottstown, told police that two of the suspects assaulted them and then fled in a Ford Explorer.

Police have charged four other suspects in these two incidents: Donte Pierre Powell, 19, of the 9000 block of Connell Court, Columbia; Lavar James Martinez, 18, of the 9000 block of Lambskin Lane, Columbia; Gerald Wright, 20, of the 8000 block of River Island Drive, Savage; and Michael Quinton Patrick, 20, of the 2000 block of Charred Wood Court, District Heights.
