The District teenager caught driving a slain American University professor’s Jeep has pleaded guilty to unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Court records show 18-year-old Deandrew Hamlin pleaded guilty Tuesday in D.C. Superior Court. He had been scheduled to be arraigned in D.C. after Montgomery County prosecutors dropped theft charges in the case last week.

No one has been charged in the death of Sue Ann Marcum, an American accounting professor who was found beaten and strangled to death in her Bethesda home in October.

Hamlin was arrested after he crashed Marcum’s Jeep in the District that night. A license plate reader detected Hamlin driving the Jeep on the 2800 block of Benning Road NE. A chase ensued, and Hamlin crashed into a crosswalk signal pole near New Jersey Avenue and M Street NW.
