Judge Jackson has a decades-long pattern of advocating for lighter and more lenient sentences for sexual predators.

Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz took aim at Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson in his latest podcast episode.
A video emerged Friday from the Wednesday episode featuring Cruz recalling the timeline of Jackson’s opinions surrounding sex crime convictions.
Cruz, who, like Jackson, graduated from Harvard Law School, explained that the judge’s proclivity for issuing lenient sentences to those convicted of sexual crimes began early on in her career. Jackson opted to write in the Harvard Law Review, the “academic piece,” according to Cruz, about laws dealing with sexual predators.
THREE THINGS THAT SHOULD CONCERN SENATORS ABOUT KETANJI BROWN JACKSON
Namely, she analyzed the sex offender registry, their DNA databases, and public notification and civil commitment statutes.
“Her note argues that [the laws] should all be viewed based on their effects, and most if not all of them are punitive and therefore unconstitutional,” Cruz said.
Cruz, on the other hand, fought as Texas solicitor general to maintain its civil commitment statute.
“She has a consistent pattern going forward to today of advocating leniency for sexual predators,” Cruz said.

Jackson’s confirmation hearings ended Thursday. The Senate Judiciary Committee is set to vote on her confirmation April 4. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has reportedly said he’d like to see a full vote by the end of that week.
