Friday?s moderate-income housing lottery in Ellicott City was cancelled because too few residents qualified for the 23 available units, officials said.
The eight residents that did qualify will have the opportunity to buy one of the units in Shipley?s Grant and Elkridge Crossing, said Kathy Beard, a county spokeswoman.
The winners? names were not immediately available.
Eligibility is based on a formula of income and assets and varies by lottery, Beard said.
Last Saturday, at Howard’s Come Home to Howard County housing fair, a Pamplona Road house went to Patricia Tolson of Columbia. Two more houses were picked Wednesday at drawing at the Howard Building in Ellicott City. Matthew Boyle of Columbia and Khari Kambon of Ellicott City each won the right to purchase town houses in the Cherry Tree subdivision.
