Shortly before former President Donald Trump became President-elect Donald Trump, it was revealed that the national average price for a gallon of regular gas increased on Wednesday, slightly rising to $3.107 from Tuesday’s price of $3.102, according to AAA.
This was the first release of the national average for gas prices after the 2024 U.S. presidential election. Gas prices were a crucial issue throughout the year before the election, but its importance subsided recently as gas prices trended downward for the last several months. While still significantly higher than when former Trump was last in office, the recent falling prices seemed to lessen public outrage heading into the election.
