Trump: Clinton is ‘pandering’ with hot sauce comments

Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that Hillary Clinton’s recent joke about always carrying hot sauce in her purse is evidence of her “pandering.”

“It’s just so phony. It’s so pandering. It’s so terrible,” the Republican presidential hopeful told Fox News.

During a radio interview Monday, Trump’s leading Democratic opponent admitted that the one item she always has on her is a bottle of hot sauce. The former first lady previously disclosed that she kept more than 100 bottles of hot sauce in the White House during her husband’s presidency.

The radio host responded by telling Clinton that her comment would likely be seen as “pandering to black people.”

“Is it working?” Clinton quipped, adding that she’s consumed “a lot of hot sauce and raw peppers” on the campaign trail this election cycle.

“It’s the same thing that she always does. She carries hot sauce like I carry hot sauce,” Trump said Tuesday.

Trump and Clinton are both expected to pull off victories in Tuesday’s Republican primary in New York. The two candidates have each carried double-digit leads over their opponents in the Empire State in recent weeks.
