Murdered teen identified

Montgomery County police identified the slain teen found early Tuesday as 18-year-old Alex Nando Roman.

Nando, whose address was unknown, was found around 2 a.m. by a motorist in the Mount Zion area of Brookeville. Police said he was shot to death and do not believe it was a random act.

He was the first homicide of the year for the county.

Woman, 64, killed in collision

A 64-year-old Great Falls woman was killed in in a head-on collision on the Georgetown Pike, Fairfax County police said.

Police said Marilyn S. Miller was driving west Tuesday morning when her 2006 Acura crossed the center line and hit a 2005 Ford Escape. The 70-year-old-driver and 62-year-old passenger of the Ford were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police do not believe speed or alcohol are factors in the crash.

Drug smuggler faces sentencing

A Canadian truck driver faces sentencing on drug-dealing charges after he was found with large amounts of drugs in Frederick.

Mario Plourde, 46, of Quebec, and another man were arrested in December 2008 after a Frederick County deputy found 100,000 Ecstasy pills inside two suitcases in a rental car. He pleaded guilty to the charges in February, according to an AP story. The other suspect, Bruno Bendo, of Quebec, provided information to police that led to Plourde and 104 pounds of marijuana stashed in a warehouse.

Man found shot in car

D.C. police are investigating a fatal shooting in Southeast Washington Tuesday.

At about 3:45 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 4700 block Alabama Avenue SE, and found a male victim inside a motor vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Christopher Louis Jones, 23, of D.C., was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
