Manassas police are looking for a man who smashed his way into a jewelry store and made off with about $6,000 in watches. The man was caught on camera and police have identified the suspect as 48-year-old Haywood Purnell Jr. of Prince William County. He is wanted for burglary and grand larceny.
According to police, at about 4 a.m. Feb. 18, the suspect broke into the Ashby Jewelers, 9407 Main St., by smashing out the front glass door. Once inside, he smashed two glass cases. Purnell is described as 6-foot-2, 280 pounds. His last known address was 9216 Prescott Ave., in Manassas.
