Police seek clues to carpenter’s slaying

Prince George’s County police are looking for information in the 2009 slaying of a contractor who was shot while working at a home in Forestville. Police said that about 11:21 a.m., Sept. 3, 2009, police responded to the 3700 block of Forestville Road for a report of a shooting.

Officers found Fred Scott Davis, of Dunkirk, Md., inside the residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Davis was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

According to his obituary, Davis operated Davis Brothers Construction Company for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, two Bronze Stars and the Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation. During the 1990s he was a former professional rodeo bareback rider.

Surveillance cameras caught a potential suspect running outside the house moments before Davis was killed.
