VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — A former Virginia Beach police officer will be sentenced in September for stealing items from a police precinct.

Media outlets report that 56-year-old Albert Leonard Mills pleaded guilty Tuesday in Virginia Beach Circuit Court to grand larceny and petit larceny charges.

Mills was accused of taking a GPS unit, a digital camera, a night vision device and other items from the Oceanfront precinct between September 2007 and December 2011.

He resigned from the police department after he was arrested.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 12.
