Bus shelters damaged around D.C.
Vandals broke the glass panes of some two dozen bus shelters around D.C. this weekend, authorities said.

All four quadrants of the city were struck, but most of the damage occurred in Northwest and Southeast D.C., said District Department of Transportation spokesman John Lisle. Clear Channel Outdoor, an advertising company, maintains most of the shelters and will be responsible for paying for the repairs, he said. – Kytja Weir
Medics declare live man dead
Baltimore medics pronounced a burglary suspect dead of a gunshot wound an hour before officers noticed he was still alive, Baltimore police said Monday.
Emergency medical technicians pronounced the suspect, Michael R. Quarles, dead shortly after an officer shot him in the head at a convenience store, police said.
After medics left the scene, officers saw Quarles moving and called the medics again. – Scott McCabe
Fort Meade man killed in skydiving incident
Virginia State Police have identified the body of a man killed in a skydiving accident Saturday.
Command Sgt. Major Harry Parrish, 53, of Fort Meade, Md., was found Sunday morning near Middle Peninsula Regional Airport, about 40 miles east of Richmond. Police said Parrish was on a civilian training exercise when he went missing after a jump around 7 p.m. Police believe the death was accidental. – Scott McCabe
Police look for sex assault suspect
A 19-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man she followed from a bus stop, Fairfax County police said.
About 9 p.m., the teenager agreed to get on the bus with the stranger in the Lincolnia area. The suspect and the victim got off a few blocks later and went to a secluded area where the man sexually assaulted her, police said.
The suspect was a heavy-set Hispanic man with muscular arms, in his 20s. He was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and had short, wavy black hair. He wore a white T-shirt with pictures on the front, red shorts and tennis shoes. – Scott McCabe
