Meghan McCain, daughter of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., came close at one point to being a member of a first family.
But instead of being a temporary fixture in the White House, McCain the younger now stars on Pivot’s “TakePart Live,” where she discussed earlier this week her true feelings for the Secret Service, an agency that has in recent weeks fallen under intense scrutiny for numerous security lapses.
“I have nothing but horrible experiences with the Secret Service,” the 29-year-old said. “One of my friends called them glorified mall cops, and I don’t think that’s terribly far off. I found them cliquey. I hated all of them.”
“I had really bad experiences,” she added, noting, “I think there’s a cultural problem with the Secret Service.”
Outgoing Secret Service Director Julia Pierson resigned Wednesday, explaining that her exit would help the agency to clean up its act.
“I’m sure there are good ones out there,” McCain said, adding, “my personal experience just wasn’t that.”
The Secret Service’s woes have gone from bad to worse as more whistleblowers have come forward to reveal additional details of the agency’s many shortcomings.
