There may be 10 presidential primaries going on today, but Rick Santorum decided to address the American Israel Public Affairs Committee this morning in person.

“I wanted to come off the campaign trail to come here,” Santorum said.

In his speech, Santorum recounted his attempts to fight for more support for Iranian dissidents over the opposition of President Bush. His effort failed in the Senate, with then Sens. Joe Biden and Barack Obama opposing.

During his talk, Santorum made the case that a nuclear Iran wouldn’t only be a threat to Israel, but “a nightmare for all freedom loving people in the world…”

He dismissed the idea that the world could live with a nuclear Iran, explaining that they were a radicial Islamic regime.

“What leads you to believe these folks are rational actors?” he asked.

Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich are addressing the conference by satellite this morning.
