Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden is at Christiana Medical Center undergoing treatment at present. He is alert and awake, and communicating with his parents and his wife, who are with him. We will provide more details as they become available.
Beau Biden’s undisclosed illness was serious enough to divert the vice president from lunch with President Obama and meetings on Afghanistan ahead of President Hamid Karzai’s Wednesday visit to the White House.
The younger Biden, 41, reportedly suffered head pains before going to the hospital. ABC News notes that Joe Biden was 45 when he was treated for life-threatening brain aneurysms.
Beau Biden served a year in Iraq in the Delaware Army National Guard.
