Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee continue to stoke the flames of the Sestak controversy in order to keep it alive. Today, they formally requested the “appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate Congressman Joe Sestak’s [D-Pa.] claim that a White House official offered him a job to induce him to exit the Pennsylvania Senate primary race against Senator Arlen Specter.”
White House officials have questioned Sestak’s version of events, all but accusing him of lying. But his story has at least some credibility — it would not be the first time the White House has offered a federal job to get someone out of a Senate race.
