Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) challenged Vice President Kamala Harris to endorse an illegal immigration bill during her visit to Texas this week, arguing she has “a chance of redemption.”
The bill, titled the Justice for Jocelyn Act, was introduced earlier this month by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) and would require U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to keep illegal immigrants in detention instead of releasing them into the country. The bill is named after Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old Texas resident who was raped and killed last month, with the two suspects in her death being illegal immigrants.
