Obama, Meyers take down Trump

If Donald Trump expected a big hug from Washington this weekend, he surely didn’t get it. The reality star, sitting at the Washington Post table, was mocked mercilessly by President Obama and then comedian Seth Meyers at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. “Now I know that he’s taken some flak lately, but no one is happier, no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald,” President Obama began. “And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter – like, did we fake the moon landing? What happened in Roswell? And where are Biggie and Tupac?”

Obama complimented Trump’s credentials and breadth of experience. “Seriously,” Obama said smirking before bringing up an episode of “Celebrity Apprentice.” “But you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership and so ultimately you didn’t blame Lil’ Jon or Meatloaf, you fired Gary Busey,” Obama said. “And these are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night. Well handled sir, well handled.”

The audience didn’t keep their laughter muted, yelling and clapping, joke after joke.

Meyers took it from there. “Donald Trump has been saying that he would run for president as a Republican, which is surprising because I thought he was running as a joke.”
