Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the day the nation honors the life of the civil rights advocate who was gunned down in Memphis, Tenn. in 1968. Some people didn’t get that memo.
On Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host had a man on the street segment and asked people what they thought of the fact that MLK endorsed Donald Trump for president.

“Please don’t!” said one young woman with a shocked face. “I’d be a little nervous. I figure he’d be the last person to endorse Trump.”
Kimmel’s staff doubled down on the lie saying that he endorsed the billionaire even though he got kicked off Celebrity Apprentice last year.
“Oh yes, I would be surprised but you got to do what’s better- the rich are going to support the rich and they got to know how to take care of their money,” said one man who thought MLK was a wealthy celebrity. “Because if Donald Trump is being the money man he is we’ll take care of their money.”
The man then stopped speaking to give a shoutout to TMZ.
Another woman was asked why MLK endorsed Trump, but Malcolm X endorsed Hillary Clinton.
“Well Malcolm X and Hillary Clinton are both from Martha’s Vineyard,” said the woman. “Malcolm X has a home on Martha’s Vineyard, so they vacation they vacation with him — they golf together when there on Martha’s Vineyard.”
