Spike Lee calls out Bob Johnson

Careful, Bob Johnson: You might end up on the wrong end of Spike Lee’s lens.

The filmmaker called out the BET founder and D.C. power broker in an interview with Mike Schneider on Bloomberg TV’s Night Talk, saying that while he has “no problem with African-Americans voting for Hillary Clinton,” he has a problem “when a person like Johnson has a town meeting before introducing Clinton and says that [Barack] Obama was in the hood doing drugs. That was uncalled for.”

He was referring to an incident in January, when Johnson obliquely referenced Obama’s past drug use and compared him to Sidney Poitier in “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.”

Lee went on to say that “guys” like Johnson remain loyal to the Clintons, in part, because they “made a whole lot of money … with Clinton.” He added that Bill Clinton “has been playing his whole thing like he’s the great white father” and “if you know anything about the Clintons and what they’ve done in politics … they’ve got to knock out some kneecaps.”
