When President Trump arrives in Paris this week to celebrate Bastille Day, he’ll be greeted by activists protesting the president’s positions on climate change, immigration, and “sexist speeches and behavior.”
The group “Paris Against Trump” announced on its Facebook page Monday a series of events in protest of Trump that will begin Thursday and last into Bastille Day on Friday.

Events include a “No Trump Zone” with music and dancing in the Place de la Republique, and a “Don’t Let Your Guard Down Against Trump” march that begins at the Place de Clichy on Friday.
“Trump is not welcome in Paris,” a Facebook page for the event said. “We are opposed to his positions on the climate crisis, his international politics against migrants, his sexist speeches and behavior, his Islamophobia, and racist remarks, his military plans around the world and his neo-liberalism and capitalism.”
The White House announced last month Trump accepted the invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to visit Paris in celebration of Bastille Day and commemoration of the 100th anniversary of America’s entry into World War I.
Trump and Macron are planning to dine at Le Jules Verne, a restaurant on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, on Thursday night.
Security across Paris is expected to be tight, as France is still under a state of emergency following the November 2015 terror attacks in Paris that left 130 dead.
During Bastille Day celebrations in Nice, France, last year, 86 people died when a terrorist plowed a truck into crowds watching a fireworks display.
Last week, Paris police arrested a 23-year-old man who was plotting to assassinate Macron during Trump’s visit this week. French investigators said the man planned to attack Macron during the parade taking place Friday.
