In a not-so-subtle jab at China and the Obama administration, Sen. John McCain tweeted an image of him and Sen. Tom Cotton flying over the South China Sea on Friday.
“The best route to #Singapore w/ @SenTomCotton: right over the South China Sea #freedom of navigation #SLD,” he tweeted.

The two were en route to the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, an annual meeting of government officials focused on Asian security. Behind them was a map showing their flight path over the South China Sea, where the Chinese have been building islands and loading them up with defense equipment.
McCain has repeatedly prodded the administration to sail Navy ships and fly aircraft near and over the man-made islands as a show of force against Chinese aggression.
In May, the U.S. Navy destroyer Lawrence passed within 12 nautical miles of Fiery Cross Reef, a move that McCain supports.
