Liberals freaked out when President Trump tweeted a video implying he’d be president forever. They were up in arms again when Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, tweeted during the first Democratic debate that Trump could serve a third term.
“After tonight’s #DemocraticDebate,” he wrote, “that whole Trump 3rd term thing is looking better and better.”
After tonight’s #DemocraticDebate…….that whole Trump 3rd term thing is looking better and better.

By Thursday morning, #LindseyGrahamResign was trending on Twitter.
Lindsey Graham likes to “joke” about Trump serving more than two terms. Well, let me just remind this phony US Senator that he is “joking” about the Constitution. And that’s just disgraceful. Another new low for Donald Trump’s little lapdog. #LindseyGrahamResign

When will Democrats realize that this kind of stunt it just a ploy to keep them upset and looking stupid? With a Republican in the White House, the GOP is simply playing defense. To win 2020, all it has to do is keep Democrats fighting among themselves and battling straw men. If the first Democratic primary debate on Wednesday night was any indication, that may not be too difficult.
Last week, Trump tweeted out a video mocking a Time magazine cover from last fall. The story was “How Trumpism Will Outlast Trump,” and Trump made it clear that he doesn’t agree with its premise. Viewers on the Left, though, didn’t take it as a joke.
I’m not sure how the subversion of our Democracy is a laughing matter

Quipping about staking out a place in the White House for the next few thousand years may not be particularly mature, but it’s definitely not the threat to democracy that liberals think. Graham and Trump know that they can get Democrats up in arms about nothing, wasting their energy on manufactured controversies.
In the meantime, if the Left stays distracted by such stunts, Trump may cruise not to a third term, but at least to a second.
