Proving you can’t keep a good capuchin down, The Examiner’s Prognosticating Primate, Bimbo, went 3-1 last week, tying Al Galdi of ESPN 980 for honors in the Great Baltimore-Washington Metroplex Sports Talk Radio Playoff Challenge.
The difference between the two savants and the rest? Bimbo and Galdi were the only ones who envisioned the Eagles upset of the Giants.

They arrived at their conclusions in vastly different ways however. While Galdi saw Eli Manning struggling in windy Giants Stadium, Bimbo believed the Giants’ inferior receiving corps was “all opposable thumbs.”
This week, Galdi likes the Ravens and the Eagles to prevail in their respective conference championship games and meet in an I-95 Super Bowl.
Thanks to the deep-voiced Galdi, the most illustrious sports update man on D.C. radio, Washington (13-11) took the lead over Baltimore (12-12).
The key game in their inter-city challenge this week — Ravens-Steelers. This will be Separation Sunday, kids, because while D.C. sports radio talkers Byron Kerr of WTOP (103.5 FM) and Kevin Sheehan of ESPN 980 are going with the favored Steelers, the Baltimore radio boys are playing the homer card. All are pledging their allegiance to their beloved Baltimore Ravens.
The only Baltimore radio talker not in lockstep is a latecomer to the competition, Anita Marks of The FAN (105.7 FM). Congratulations Anita, it takes a lot of, uhhh, chutzpah to pick the Steelers in Ravensland. So here’s an Iron City Light to Anita, the bold contrarian of Charm City.
With her performance last week, Bimbo improved to 161-101-1. With the stakes rising for the conference title games, sports handicappers the world over are mumbling the same mantra in search of answers. “WWBD,” or “What Would Bimbo Do” has become the most asked question in sports betting parlors from Reno to Riyadh.
